The legislature of Maharashtra is bicameral, which means that it is based on two legislative chambers. The rare thing about this is the fact that it is one of the only states located in India that has a bicameral legislature.

The party which has dominated the state of Maharashtra ever since it became an independent state is the Indian National Congress party. While it has been in power on and off, it definitely has been the dominating party.

Maharashtra is home to some places which are very important to government. Some of these places include the state assembly which is the Vidhan Sabha, the administrative offices of government which is called the Mantralaya, and the Bombay High Court.
